MYF Youth Ambassador
Sixteen year old Daryl Ward becomes a Youth Ambassador for the Musical Youth Foundation.
Daryl began learning to play the guitar via the Musical Youth Foundation ‘guitars for kids’ programme 3 years ago and was today unveiled as our first ever MYF Youth Ambassador. Not only has Daryl benefited from his experience as a participant in our music education programme but he has also been an inspiration to younger members of the programme, always on hand to offer advice and tips for learning to play the guitar.
In recognition of Daryl’s achievments to date he was presented with a beautiful new Gibson guitar and Marshall amp by our Founder & CEO Chris Maher who said: “Daryl is a shinning example of what can be achieved through music education. It has been a pleasure to watch from the sidelines as Daryl progressed through our programme – he’s really grown as a person, it’s amazing to see the positive transformation music education has on young people. On tough days, of which there are many when trying to fundraise, his progress and that of others has provided me with the motivation to keep working on the growth and development of the Musical Youth Foundation in what is an almost impossible climate for fundraising.”
Over the coming weeks and months Daryl will continue his progress with the Musical Youth Foundation and will also play a key role in helping to attract and motivate other young people to get involved in music. More news to follow…
If you would like to help the MYF make a real and lasting difference in the lives of young people why not get involved by donating, volunteering or just attending one of our fundraising events?
