Aviva Stadium grant for MYF
With thanks to a grant of €2,350. awarded by Aviva Stadium the Musical Youth Foundation is delighted to announce the launch of its 3rd Guitars for Kids programme and its first partnership with a local school. Children attending Ringsend Technical Institute on the banks of the river Liffey adjacent to the East Link Toll Bridge will benefit from the generous support of the Aviva Stadium which awarded the grant as part of its Community Grant Scheme.
Following a live performance at the school by Australian Singer/Songwriter Tara Stewart the children were invited to register their interest in participating in the Guitars for Kids programme. The level of interest has been overwhelming and keeping the numbers participating to a manageable level is going to be a challenge.
On October 10th the children chosen to particpate in phase one of the Guitars for Kids programme met with Waltons New Music School teacher Dave Mooney who will be running the lessons to discuss how the lessons would proceed and to agree a format with the children.
Charity Founder & CEO Chris Maher said; “We are delighted to be able to launch our 3rd guitars for kids programme in Ringsend Technical Institute. Without the generous support of the Aviva Stadium we would not have been in a position to launch this project so we say a big thank you to them for recognising the importance of music education and the massive and life changing difference it has on a child’s life.”
More news and updates regarding the progress of the children particpating in the Guitars for Kids programme in Ringsend Technical Institute will be posted in due course.
