Press Release 14th November, 2024
Musical Youth Foundation Air Guitar Strings
& Two World Record Attempts
The Musical Youth Foundation children’s charity today revealed it will attempt to break the current world records for the most people simultaneously playing Air Guitar online (186) and in person (2,377) as part of efforts to continue providing thousands of children with access to life-changing music education programmes in 2025.
With help from 2nd class pupils from the Central Model Senior School in Dublin 1, the charity announced it will be selling “Air Guitar Strings” as part of vital fundraising efforts this Christmas. Anyone purchasing a packet of Air Guitar Strings for just €5.00 from MusicalYouthFoundation.org can register to take part in the world record attempts scheduled for March 2025.
MYF founder Chris Maher says: “We wanted to tap in to the world renowned Irish sense of humour so we created Musical Youth Foundation Air Guitar Strings to bring an element of fun to our fundraising efforts. When you hand someone what is essentially an empty cellophane bag, it usually only takes a second or two before the smiles and laughter start. Air Guitar Strings are fun, make an excellant stocking filler, and with the added bonus of being able to take part in two world record attempts.”
Chris Maher went on to say: “Obviously as a charity we are entirely reliant on the genorosity of the the Irish people. Without their cash donations we simply can’t continue to provide vulnerable children with access to life-changing music education programmes.
With everything that’s going on in the world, music education can often be forgotten. Seen as a nice to do rather than a need to do thing. Though in reality nothing could be further from the truth with the proven power of music education to transform young lives well researched and documented globally.”
With the Christmas Party season in full swing there will be a lot of people showing off their Air Guitar skills and so demand for strings is expected to be high. Anyone wishing to support music education for kids, and become a world record breaker in the process should visit MusicalYouthFoundation.org/shop.
The Musical Youth Foundation has been providing thousands of vulnerable children with access to instruments and life-changing music education programmes since its inception in 2007.
