A little bit more info…
Instrumental Art is an exhibition featuring old, unused and even broken instruments that have been generously donated by members of the public and music shops from around Ireland. We spent over 6 months collecting them, repairing their broken bits and lovingly sanding them back down to the original wood in preparation for painting by some of Ireland’s best known artists, musicians and creatives.
Word quickly spread through the creative world and it wasn’t long before we started getting much more than we bargained for. Visit Instrumental Art in the Exhibition Space on the Top Floor of Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre and you’ll be amazed by what you see.
An old set of drums meets a microwave oven, a guitar and a windmill combine and music is the medicine when an old violin is transformed. Sound crazy? Come and see for yourself what has been specially created to help the Musical Youth Foundation in its mission to provide every child in Ireland with access to a musical education.
If you love what you see don’t forget to buy a book of postcards featuring a selection of the creations or if you feel like spoiling yourself you could purchase one of the actual instruments to hang on your wall.
